Honest answers, plain words
If your question isn't here, ask us — we'll answer it straight.
Are you a CPA firm?
No. Landfall Tax is not a CPA firm or law firm, and we don't pretend to be. We prepare returns and help you plan; for advice specific to your situation, we always recommend consulting a licensed tax professional — and we'll help you understand what to ask them.
When are you taking clients?
We're taking inquiries now and onboarding new clients for the 2027 filing season. Reach out early — the earlier we start, the calmer it goes.
What do you charge?
Flat fees, quoted in writing before we start — no hourly meter. Final pricing is confirmed at your consultation, because every situation is different. See how pricing works.
How do you file my return?
We prepare your return and file it electronically through the IRS's e-file options, with confirmation in your hands when it's accepted.
I got a letter from the IRS. What do I do?
First: don't panic, and don't ignore it. Read our IRS notice help service — we'll translate the letter and help you respond. The IRS also publishes guidance on understanding your notice.
Do you handle extensions?
Yes — we can prepare an extension request for you. Note that an extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay: the IRS still expects payment by the filing deadline.
Can I just use the IRS Free File instead?
Sometimes, honestly, yes. If your return is simple and you're comfortable doing it yourself, IRS Free File is a legitimate free option — we'll tell you when it's the right call. We're here for people who want a careful human double-checking everything.
Do I need a tax preparer with a PTIN?
Anyone who prepares your return for compensation must have a valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) — that's an IRS requirement, and we meet it.
